Cookie policy

The following provisions apply to cookies and usage analysis tools.

1. Are cookies set?

The Deutsche Oper Berlin website uses so-called cookies. These are small text files that are stored on your end device. Some of the cookies used by Deutsche Oper Berlin are deleted after the end of the browser session, i.e. after you close your browser (so-called session cookies). Other cookies remain on your computer and enable the Deutsche Oper Berlin to recognize your browser on your next visit (persistent cookies).

You can set your browser so that you are informed about the setting of cookies and decide individually whether to accept them or to exclude the acceptance of cookies for certain cases or in general. If you do not accept cookies, the functionality of the Deutsche Oper Berlin website may be restricted.

2. Usage analysis

Web and app analysis with Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to analyse website usage. The data obtained is used to optimise our website and advertising.

Google Analytics is provided to us by Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Google processes the website usage data on our behalf and is contractually bound to take measures to ensure the security and confidentiality of the processed data.

During your visit to our website, the following data, among other things, is transmitted to Google:

– Pages viewed
– Orders, including the turnover and the products ordered
– The achievement of ‘website goals’ (e.g. contact requests and newsletter registrations)
– Your behaviour on the pages (e.g. length of stay, clicks, scroll depth)
– Your approximate location (country and city)
– Your internet address (IP address)
– Technical information such as browser, internet provider, end device and screen resolution
– Source of your visit (i.e. which website or advertising medium referred you to us)
– A randomly generated user ID

No personal data such as name, address or contact details are transmitted to Google Analytics.

These data are transmitted to Google servers in the United States. We would like to point out that the same level of data protection as in the EU cannot be guaranteed in the United States under data protection law.

Google Analytics stores cookies in your web browser for a period of two years from your last visit. These cookies contain a randomly generated user ID that allows you to be recognised on future visits to the website.

The recorded data is stored together with the randomly generated user ID, which allows pseudonymous user profiles to be analysed. This user-related data is automatically deleted after 14 months. Other data remains stored in aggregated form for an unlimited period.

If you do not agree with the collection, you can prevent it by installing the browser add-on to disable Google Analytics or by rejecting cookies via our cookie settings dialogue. (Source: traffic3.net)

3. Other technologies

The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is not passed on to third parties.

Retargeting technology:

This makes it possible to target those Internet users on our partners' websites with advertising who have already shown an interest in our website and our products. For this purpose, corresponding pixels are placed on the website. When you visit them, a cookie is stored in your browser. This cookie enables your computer to be recognized on the basis of the logged data (visit to our website, date and time, browser type, operating system, identification of whether you are already a customer, information that you have viewed on our website). The user profiles created by the retargeting process are anonymized in accordance with the data protection regulations in such a way that it is not possible to identify individuals when surfing the Internet.

The advertising material is then displayed on our partners' websites during retargeting on the basis of a cookie-based analysis of previous user behavior. This is a temporary cookie that loses its validity after 60 days.

You can deactivate the use of cookies by third-party providers, for example, by visiting the deactivation page of the Network Advertising Initiative at https://thenai.org/ and implementing the further information on opting out mentioned there.

Adventskalender im Foyer: Das 12. Fensterchen

Today in the foyer: ‘The Snow Queen’ as a live audio play
A reading with Burkhard Ulrich and Fanny Frohnmeyer, with Lukas Zeuner on the drums
5:00 p.m. / Parkettfoyer
Duration: approx. 25 minutes / Free admission

‘Behold! Now we begin. When we reach the end of the story, we will know more than we do now, because it was an evil goblin! It was one of the very worst, it was the devil! One day he was in a good mood because he had made a mirror that had the property of making everything good and beautiful reflected in it shrink to almost nothing, but what was no good and looked bad was emphasised and became even worse. The most magnificent landscapes looked like overcooked spinach in it, and the best people became disgusting or stood on their heads without a torso,’ so begins the fairy tale “The Snow Queen” by Hans Christian Andersen.

By an unfortunate accident, a splinter of this evil magic mirror jumps into Kay's heart , whereupon he suddenly finds life in his small town quite awful and lets himself be taken by the nasty Snow Queen to the far north. But Kay's friend Gerda sets out to save her best friend. With the help of a crow and a reindeer, she eventually finds her way to the cold north of Lapland and, with the true power of friendship and laughter, she is able to free Kay from the clutches of the Snow Queen.

Today, in the foyer, the tenor Burkhard Ulrich and the director of our Junge Deutsche Oper Fanny Frohnmeyer read this touching and wonderful fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen for all fairy tale fans, old and young! And our percussionist Lukas Zeuner provides the sound for the story with marimbas, a xylophone and all kinds of rhythm and sound instruments. And all this live and very close to the audience, next to the large fir tree in the parquet foyer.
