Intermission welcome at the premiere of "Macbeth"
With MACBETH – the dark story of nebulous prophecies and bloody power struggles for the Scottish royal house – Verdi set one of Shakespeare's dramas to music for the first time in 1847. In his tried and tested manner, he condenses the plot, allowing sudden emotional changes to follow one another, thus intensifying the dramatic tension. A gripping undertow develops, causing the characters to steer inexorably towards their grisly end. After the acclaimed successes of BABY DOLL and in the Tischlerei NEGAR, Marie-Ève Signeyrole returns to direct a new production on our main stage for the first time. Verdi's harrowing Shakespearean tragedy is the ideal material for Signeyrole's spectacular visual violence, which in its aesthetics does not shy away from competing with modern blockbuster cinema.
Our Principal Guest Conductor, Enrique Mazzola, will be at the podium. You will see Roman Burdenko, Marko Mimica, Anastasia Bartoli and Attilio Glaser in the main roles. There will be a premiere interval reception again, to which we warmly invite you all.
Please feel free to bring your guests with you, as you know we want to get in touch with potential new members on this evening. We have one more request in this regard: since we have unfortunately noticed that there are repeated discussions at the entrance to the reception, we would like to kindly remind you to have your membership cards ready. This will make it easier for the admissions staff to carry out the necessary checks and ensure that you and others can attend the interval reception quickly and smoothly.
